Should we have separate booking time for tatkal at all?

   One more feature the traveling public of Indian Railways do not understand is why there is a separate slot of time for tatkal booking. It can start with, go on with and end with the general booking, on a first come first served basis on line or at the counter. It is understandable that tatkal booking can start and take place only one day before the date of journey, but it is not understandable why restricted special hours.

There are many problems for the hapless genuine traveler, who is the customer of Indian railways because of this segregation of tatkal from normal for booking purposes.

Can Indian railways share with the traveling public the need for such segregation?
